Why we joined AiMCO, and what it means for the creators we work with

Count Out Loud is now a member of AiMCO, the Australian Influencer Marketing Council – the peak body for the creator and influencer marketing industry in Australia, bringing together the agencies, platforms, brands, and specialists who work with content creators every day. We think this matters, and here is why.

A Proud Member of AiMCO, the Australian Influencer Marketing Council

The creator economy has grown up fast

What started as a handful of people posting to a following has become a genuine industry, with brand deals, agency representation, licensing, product lines, and revenue that arrives across dozens of different streams. The money is real, the tax and structuring questions are real, and the businesses behind the biggest accounts are real too. What has not always kept pace is the professional infrastructure around it. AiMCO exists to fix that, setting standards, publishing best practice, and holding the industry to a higher bar on transparency, fairness, and how creators and brands work together.

Why we joined

For us, joining is a statement about who we serve and how seriously we take it. We are a specialist accounting business built for creators, agencies, founders, and the creative teams building an audience and a business at the same time. Sitting inside the council that represents this industry means we are in the room where the standards get set, we hear where the industry is heading before it arrives, and we can bring that knowledge straight back to the people we work with. When the rules around disclosure, contracts, or creator payments shift, we want to be early, not late.

There is also something we care about on principle. Creators are often told to treat their work as a hobby that happened to make money, which leaves them exposed when the income becomes significant and the tax office starts paying attention. We have never seen it that way. A creator running brand partnerships, managing cash flow across an unpredictable calendar, and thinking about structuring for growth is running a business, and deserves advice that treats it like one. AiMCO shares that view, and membership puts us alongside others who hold the same standard.

What it means for the creators we work with

Being part of AiMCO also connects us to the wider ecosystem our clients live in – the talent agencies, the marketing platforms, the legal specialists, and the brands. When a creator we work with needs more than accounting, we are far better placed to point them somewhere trustworthy, because we know the people doing good work across the industry. Good advice rarely happens in isolation, and the stronger our connections across this field, the better we can look after the people who rely on us.

If you create for a living, or you represent people who do, you should be able to expect that the professionals around you understand your world and are held to a real standard. Our membership of AiMCO is one way we show that we take that seriously. You can see us listed in the AiMCO member directory, alongside the businesses shaping the future of creator marketing in Australia.
